Students will want to put down their phone to go and play a game with another group of students or staff and/or face the challenge in cup stacking. Do you know that math and cooking go together? Amber Clemons at Robinson Junior High is excited to receive a grant from REF for What's Cookin'? What's Cookin'? will incorporate hands-on cooking activities in the math classroom. We often use recipes and cooking-related measurements in math examples and word problems. The items purchased through the What's Cookin'? grant would allow us to bring those examples to life in the classroom.

This product is used to encourage and motivate students to participate in teacher-directed and student-led activities using a new technology-driven whiteboard. The "Blackboard Note Boogie Board" is an electronic device that works as a new age whiteboard.

Just as one experiences in real life working in a coffee shop, students will undergo job training, put on a uniform, read coffee orders, make coffee orders, deliver the order, take money, provide change, and complete their shift.

Lounging and Learning will provide flexible seating allowing students to have the freedom to pick their best learning positions for class activities, assessments, group work, stations, etc. Awesome Osmos will provide Osmo Genius Kit with Number Sense. This will address the automaticity of math facts to use in math stations.

Congrats to Amy Thomas for her REF mini grant of Fixer Upper Classroom Library Edition! Students will use the books provided to read independently or with peers. After reading their books, students will be able to create book reviews using Flipgrid giving a brief summary of the book without giving away the ending. This will allow other students to watch the book reviews to see if a certain book is one they would like to read.

All Aboard the "Osmo-tastic" training Station was awarded to Robinson Elementary third grade teacher, Kimiko Curran! The OSMO products encourage students to problem solve through engaging activities, all while increasing their number sense awareness and social collaboration. The products will allow for number sense operations at differentiated levels, as well as social and collaborative interactions when sharing the device in groups. These educational devices will encourage critical thinking, while providing an engaging opportunity to learn with technology.

Cassidy Gibbs, 3rd grade teacher at Robinson Elementary was awarded a mini grant from REF for High Score Learning with Gaming! Third grade students in math will now have items that provide more engaging ways to enhance math skills, critical thinking, and are fun while learning. The Osmo games will give students opportunities to create and think critically. The VersaTiles allow students to practice math skills with challenging fun puzzles that are standards-aligned. The giant jenga (Tumbling Timbers) can be used in a variety of ways in the classroom to make learning engaging and challenging. I can use it for review activities in both math and science, team building, class incentives, math facts, math stations, and so much more. All three of these products will help challenge student growth in small groups, whole group, and math stations.

Congrats to Shelly Chudej and Robinson Elementary on receiving a REF mini grant for Window Wednesdays and Beyond. Window Wednesdays and Beyond will be instrumental in allowing parents to take a virtual peek into their child's classroom. By utilizing our mobile broadcast setup, we will be able to produce live/recorded video of real-time student learning. Teachers will go live under the campus Twitter account to broadcast a portion of a lesson of the day so the parents and community members have a window into the classroom to see the learning experiences that involve our students.

Congrats to Kara Ficke, fine arts teacher at Robinson Elementary on her grant from REF - I've Got This Feelin' Inside My Bones! This grant will provide items that create opportunities for some "rock star" music lessons. Some items such as stick horses, plastic yard art candy canes, large scarves, a class parachute, flashlights, and plastic plates will be provided. These supplies will provide the tools necessary to help direct students so that their movements correspond with music. This utilizes the entire brain and leads to further brain development!

Congratulations to Diana Newton, Robinson Primary 1st grade teacher on the grant she received from REF! Take a Look! It's a Reading Nook! provides comfortable places for students to read which will encourage students to read more and fall in love with reading! This grant will provide several reading nooks in a classroom, as well as pillows and bean bag chairs that they can move around and use during reading times. We can also use them when we are working on our Chromebooks and iPads.
