We are continuing our celebration of CTE Month by recognizing Ms. Mary Ellis. Ms. Ellis is in her first year of teaching a CTE course. She also teaches the College and Career Explorations courses at the Junior High. Her 8th graders are working through the 16 career clusters and beginning to get exposure to some aspects of college so they can have a solid plan for their futures. Please join us in celebrating Ms. Ellis and her contributions to our CTE program.


Today, we want to celebrate CTE month by recognizing Coach Brian Pitts, one of our College and Career Explorations teachers at the Junior High. Coach Pitts is in his fourth year of teaching in CTE. He works with our 8th grade students at the junior high in exploring college and career opportunities so they can make informed decisions on their postsecondary goals. Please join us in celebrating Coach Pitts and his contributions to our CTE program.


Today, for CTE Month, we celebrate Coach Bryan Kent. Coach Kent is our Intro to Construction or Woodshop teacher at the Junior High. He is in his second year of teaching in CTE. Coach Kent works with the students to develop the skills they will need to be successful if they choose to go into Mr. McNew’s Carpentry program. Please join us in celebrating Coach Kent and his contributions to our CTE program.

Today begins our last week of CTE Month. As we continue to celebrate, we want to recognize Mrs. Linda Daugherty. Mrs. Daugherty is in her first year of teaching in CTE. She teaches our Counseling & Mental Health courses as well as our Principles of Education and Instructional Practices courses. The Counseling & Mental Health course is in our Law pathway. The Principles of Education and Instructional Practices courses are in our Teaching and Training pathway. Mrs. Daugherty’s Instructional Practices students spend time at the Primary, Elementary, and Intermediate campuses working in classrooms with our younger students. Please join us in celebrating Mrs. Daugherty and her contributions to our CTE program.

How were the proposed project for construction determined?
The district, in collaboration with the Board of Trustees, teachers, parents, students, and administrators, worked through the facilities planning committee to identify projects. The committee reviewed existing facilities, program growth, and district priorities to develop a list of considerations for a bond package.

Today, for CTE Month, we are recognizing Coach Zach Northern, one of our Business teachers. Coach Northern is in his first year of teaching in CTE. The Business courses fall into our Business Management Program of Study. Coach Northern’s BIM students learn how to use Microsoft applications in order to function more efficiently in the business world. He also teaches the introductory course in the Business pathway, in which students are learning about all of the aspects of the business world.
